ETRF

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ETRF or ETRS stands for a system of Europe-wide, high-precision surveying networks of higher geodesy and satellite geodesy .

European Terrestrial Reference Frame

ETRF is the abbreviation for European Terrestrial Reference Frame . ETRF corresponds to the international ITRF , a global geodetic world network of satellite triangulation . ETRF (the frame ) stands for the concrete set of coordinates of the survey points. As a rule, they are specified as Cartesian coordinates ( vectors with the components X, Y, Z) related to the earth's center of gravity (over 100 fixed points) and supplemented by the respective vector of the velocities , which according to modern results and plate tectonics in the range of a few centimeters per Year lie.

The ETRF coordinates of the fixed points serve u. a. for geodynamics and for calculations between the coordinate frames of the individual state surveys . They are redetermined every few years and also compared with geophysical movement models. The data are based on a mean earth ellipsoid and space-based GPS , SLR and VLBI measurement methods as well as on terrestrial surveys.

European Terrestrial Reference System

ETRS is the abbreviation for European Terrestrial Reference System . ETRS (or analogous to ITRS) contain the theory of a continental or global reference system . ETRS89 is currently used in Germany .
