from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

EUSTORY - History Network for Young Europeans is an amalgamation of independent civil society organizations from 22 European countries that conduct national history competitions for young people (mostly schoolchildren) based on the research-based learning method .

activities

Since 2001, 122,000 young people across Europe have participated in these history competitions with 55,000 entries. The organization regularly organizes international youth seminars, which are intended to facilitate a critical dialogue about the common European past and future.

In addition, international seminars, conferences, workshops, teacher training courses and publications are intended to stimulate thought-provoking discussions on European identity. The aim is to qualify young people to become responsible citizens of Europe and to encourage them to take on responsibility in Europe. After "Youth Academies" and later "History Camps" formed the focus in the early years, the "EUSTORY Next Generation Summit" has been taking place annually since 2017 with different thematic focuses. In addition, the Körber Foundation initiated the "EUSTORY History Campus" platform, on which the award winners can exchange ideas. A team of young Europeans is also creating its own public blog with various articles from the fields of history, identity (s) and politics.

The organization supports a European perspective on history that avoids exclusion and promotes understanding. The principle of the initiative is “look at European history from below and recognize and accept the multitude of different experiences”.

In 2007 EUSTORY received the German National Prize .
