Quillaja extract

Quillaja extract is a plant extract obtained from the soap bark tree ( Quillaja saponaria ). In Europe it is approved as a food additive E 999 in non-alcoholic beverages as well as cider and perry wine with a maximum quantity of 200 mg / kg. The permitted daily dose is 5 mg / kg body weight. The extract contains foam- forming saponins . Due to the bitter taste , the possible uses are limited.
