The E how easy GmbH is a German nationwide electricity and gas supplier based in Cologne. The wholly owned subsidiary of E.ON Energie AG offers energy products for private households and small and medium-sized companies.

Company history

As a result of the liberalization of the energy markets in 1998, a large number of new providers of electricity and gas emerged in Germany. This gave consumers a free choice between electricity providers. In February 2007 E.ON founded its own discount subsidiary, E WIE EINFACH GmbH, based in Cologne . At the time, the company was the only supplier that offered electricity and gas for private households nationwide.

distribution

E WIE EINFACH relies on different sales channels (multi-channel sales). The company not only offers its products on its own website, but also in direct sales , via call centers , with sales partners and via partner portals on the Internet such as Verivox or Check24 .

E WIE EINFACH sells six tariffs: EinPreisTarif Strom, MeinEkoTarif Strom, MeinGünstigTarif Strom and EinPreisTarif Gas, MeinKlimaTarif Gas and MeinPaketTarif Gas.

criticism

Advertising for E like simply with an airship over Berlin

In February and March 2012, E like simply ran a series of commercials , one of them entitled “Falling Asleep” shows a couple lying in bed together. When the woman says she cannot sleep, the man gives her a headbutt . An off-voice then says: “It's really easy!” The advertising film met with criticism from many people because, among other things, it glorified violence in relationships and the oppression of women. However, there was also positive feedback and many Internet users reacted with incomprehension to the criticism of the spot.

In 2018, the Federal Network Agency imposed a fine of 140,000 euros on E Wie Einfach GmbH for unauthorized advertising calls. The background was massive complaints from consumers that the company had advertised contracts for electricity and gas nationwide by telephone without any effective advertising declarations.
