Eagle Landing State Park is a state park in the US state of Connecticut on the territory of the municipality Haddam , Connecticut. It has picnic and fishing spots, and several bot ramps to the Connecticut River . A private operator starts river trips from a dock in the park.
history
The small but conveniently located piece of land (16 acres = 6 ha) directly on the river bank was acquired in 2003 for USD 1.3 million and attempts were made to swap the land for a larger piece of land with a real estate company. However, these plans were finally abandoned in 2012.
particularities
The park is relatively small, but offers a good opportunity to spot the bald eagles , several of which often visit the area in winter. The park is bounded to the west by the Valley Railroad (Connecticut) and immediately adjacent to the Clark Creek Wildlife Area . Further to the west are lots of the Cockaponset State Forest . To the east, on the opposite side of the river, is Goodspeed Airport .
