Earl Beauchamp

Earl Beauchamp was a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Award

The title was bestowed on December 1, 1815, to William Lygon, 1st Baron Beauchamp .

With the death of the 8th Earl on January 3, 1979, the Earldom and all subordinate titles became extinct.

Subordinate title

With the earliest title , the minor title of Viscount Elmley , in the County of Worcester , who also belonged to the Peerage of the United Kingdom, was awarded at the same time . It was used as a courtesy title by the title heir.

As early as February 26, 1806, the future 1st Earl was awarded to Baron Beauchamp , of Powyck in the County of Worcester. This title also belonged to the Peerage of the United Kingdom.

The title Baron Beauchamp of Powyk had already been bestowed on May 2, 1447 as Barony by writ in the Peerage of England to Sir John Beauchamp , who was related to the Earls of Warwick . The title expired on the death of his son, the 2nd baron, on January 19, 1503.
