Earl of Kilmorey is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .

Award and subordinate titles

The title was created on February 5, 1822 for the Anglo-Irish General Francis Needham, 12th Viscount Kilmorey . Along with the earliest title , he was awarded the subordinate title Viscount Newry and Morne , in the County of Down . As early as 1818, he had inherited the subordinate title Viscount Kilmorey , in Queen's County , from his older brother , which was created on April 18, 1625 for his ancestor Sir Robert Needham . All three titles belong to the Peerage of Ireland. The title heir ( heir apparent ) of the incumbent Earl carries the courtesy title Viscount Newry and Morne .
