history

At the beginning of the 20th century, cricket only slowly gained acceptance in the region, also because agricultural regions initially refused to organize cricket centrally. For a long time the team was not represented in the top group. 1960/61 succeeded with a second place in the Currie Cup, the first foray into the upper group. The first successes in one-day cricket began in the 1970s. The first win came at the Gillette Cup in 1971/72 , which could be repeated in 1975/76 . The second peak came at the end of the 1980s. The Nissan Shield was won in 1986/87 and the Currie Cup for the first time in 1988/89 . In the following season , the shared win of the championship succeeded. The last major success was achieved in 1991/92 when both the Currie Cup and the One-Day Cup could be won. In the 2003/04 season the provincial teams were merged and Border formed the Warriors together with Griqualand West. In the following years the team managed to win a first-class competition of the now semi-professional provincial teams.
