Eberhard Schenk

Eberhard Schenk (born July 17, 1929 in Schneidemühl ; † July 23, 2010 in Bergen auf Rügen ) was a German athlete from the German Democratic Republic (GDR) who was one of the best hurdlers in the GDR in the 1950s and won two championship titles .

Schenk finished fourth in 1951 and third place in the GDR championships in the 110-meter hurdles in 1952 . Behind Karl Scholz , he was runner-up in the 200 meter hurdles in 1952. In 1953 and 1954 Schenk ran at the GDR championships behind Gerhard Schmolinski in second place over 110 meter hurdles. Schenk won his first championship title in 1954 in the 200-meter hurdles. In 1955 he then also won the 110 meter hurdles.

Schenk first worked for the Rostock unit and later for the SC Empor Rostock . After his career he did his doctorate and then worked as a general practitioner in Bergen on Rügen . His son Christian Schenk , born in 1965, won the Olympic decathlon in Seoul in 1988 .
