Eberhard von Bothmer

Eberhard von Bothmer (* 1562 ; † October 14, 1646 ) was a German nobleman and administrative officer.

Life

Bothmer was a son of Leopold von Bothmer, Drosten zu Rotenburg, and Marie Gertrud von Holle. Like his father Drost, he was in Rotenburg and, after the death of Drosten Hartwig von Badendorff in 1609, he was enfeoffed with the Neubruchhausen office by Duke Ernst II of Braunschweig-Lüneburg in return for a pledge of 4,214 gold guilders and 7,189 thalers . In addition, he acted as canon in Verden, Hildesheim and Merseburg and as provost and thesaurarius of St. Andreas in Verden .

In 1610/12 he initiated the construction of the chapel in Neubruchhausen (demolished in 1970) and donated the two-storey carved altar (1610) that is still preserved today.

In 1640 he gave up the Drostenamt in Bruchhausen.

family

Eberhard von Bothmer's first marriage (July 14, 1603 in Schwarmstedt) was Engel von Landesbergen from the Wormstedt family. After her death, he married Gertrud von Falkenburg on October 30, 1610.
