The Eberhardstraße is a street in Trier in the neighborhood South . It runs parallel to Saarstrasse and connects Nikolausstrasse with Südallee . The street is a one-way street ; from Gilbertstraße you can only drive north or south.
history
The street is named after Matthias Eberhard (1815–1876) from Trier , who was Bishop of Trier from 1867–1876 . The street has had that name since 1897. Eberhard was imprisoned in Trier prison on March 6, 1874 as a result of the culture war laws.

The street is part of the monument zone Eberhardstraße 1–57 (odd numbers), 2–48 (even numbers), Gilbertstraße 16, 17, 18, Nikolausstraße 34, Südallee 30, 31, 32, Weidegasse 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 . On the street there are buildings from three decades of construction history, in particular houses from Historicism and Art Nouveau . Some buildings also have expressionist shapes. Saarstrasse, which is also largely a monument zone, runs parallel to the street.
