Eckart Bormann is a German bassoonist and conductor .

Act

Bormann received musical training in the subjects of bassoon and conducting in Leipzig; he studied in Leipzig with Werner Seltmann . In 1988 he received the 2nd prize at the 1st National Competition for Woodwinds in Leipzig. Since 1990 he has been solo bassoonist in the MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig. From 1994 to 1996 he was director of the wind ensemble of the MDR symphony orchestra. He was trained as a conductor at the HfMTH Leipzig with Volker Rohde .

He has directed various concerts and radio productions with various ensembles at home and abroad, including as head of the VoixVisuelle project ensemble , at the MDR music summer in the Taschenbergpalais Dresden and with the MDR wind ensemble. He appeared several times at the Dresden Music Festival , including at Albrechtsberg Castle . In 2003, with the Ensemble con bravura, a complete production of Jan Dismas Zelenka's trio sonata cycle for MDR took place. In 2006 he was soloist at the Concertino for clarinet, bassoon, string orchestra and harp by Richard Strauss with the MDR symphony orchestra under Eiji Ōue .

In 1999 he was 1st prize winner at the Leipzig International Improvisation Competition. He is involved in numerous chamber music and orchestral radio productions of the MDR.

Since August 2015 he has been running the music project Animes in Concert on a voluntary basis to support research in the field of early detection and treatment of depression in children and adolescents and founded the PurpleScreen Visual Concerts UG in Leipzig in April 2016 .
