Werner Seltmann

Werner Seltmann (born August 27, 1930 in Leipzig ) is a German bassoonist .

Life

Seltmann studied from 1941 to 1945 at a music high school in Leipzig. He received lessons in piano from Hugo Steurer and in horn . From 1946 to 1951 he studied horn with Albin Frehse and bassoon with Carl Schaefer at the Leipzig University of Music .

In 1952 he became a member and later solo bassoonist in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra . He also worked in the Gewandhaus Wind Quintet from 1957 to 1982. In 1951 he received an apprenticeship in Leipzig. From 1958 to 1995 he taught at the music college. In 1980 he was appointed professor . His students include Axel Andrae , Eckart Bormann , Gottfried Kronfeld , Siegfried Nitt , Thomas Reinhardt and Hans Schlag.

Together with the bassoonist Günther Angerhöfer, Seltmann is the author of a multi-volume bassoon school.
