The Baluran National Park is located on the island of Java , in the Indonesian province of East Java . The vegetation is characterized by great diversity. These include tropical rainforest, which makes up 40% of the park and, with mangroves, freshwater swamps and coastal forest, is mainly in the south of the park around Gunung Bauran . The northern part is characterized by the savannah landscape. The neem tree , the tamarind tree and the light walnut tree are among the more than 400 listed plant species . The 26 species of mammals include banteng , leopard , small squirrel , fish cat and black crested langur . There are over 150 species of birds including green peafowl , bankiva chicken , rhinoceros bird , barn swallow and sunda marabou .
