Axel Andrae

Axel Andrae (* 1965 in Wolfen ) is a German bassoonist .

Life

Andrae received his first bassoon lessons at the age of eleven. He then studied bassoon with Werner Seltmann at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music in Leipzig . Since 1988 he has been solo bassoonist in what is now the MDR Symphony Orchestra .

As a soloist he worked a. a. with Max Pommer , Tang Muhai , Christoph Poppen , Jun Märkl , Fabio Luisi , Bruno Weil , Rolf Gupta , Michala Petri and Maurice Steger .

Andraes is particularly interested in new music and the interpretation of early music on historical instruments. As a dulcian and baroque bassoonist and member of several special ensembles , he has already given concerts in Poland , the United Kingdom , the Netherlands , France , Portugal , Spain , Switzerland , Japan and Italy . He is also a member of the MDR Wind Quintet and the Sortisatio ensemble .

He recorded several CDs, among others with Matthias Jung , Ludger Rémy and Hans-Christoph Rademann as well as the Cappella Sagittariana Dresden, the Batzdorfer Hofkapelle and the Berliner Barock-Compagney .
