The Berliner Barock-Compagney from 1986 to 2010 chamber music ensemble that specializes in the performance of early music was dedicated with authentic instruments.

history

The Berliner Barock-Compagney was founded in 1986 by former students of the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in what was then East Berlin . In its most important time the ensemble consisted of the three musicians Georg Kallweit ( violin ), Jan Freiheit ( violoncello ; viola da gamba ) and Christine Schornsheim (historical keyboard instruments ).

Initially the ensemble concentrated on the trio sonata repertoire of the 18th century; initially played on modern instruments. But the musicians soon developed an interest in the music of other epochs, but above all in its style-appropriate performance . Since 1990 the musicians of the Berliner Barock-Compagney have performed with historical instruments. Their programs included the highly artificial, still insufficiently appreciated art of the early baroque and also works of the early 19th century.

In order to give the listeners the widest possible range of insights into the music of different time periods, the Berlin Baroque Compagney began at an early stage to expand its regular line-up consisting of violin, cello and harpsichord from case to case. The artistic profile of the ensemble included guest engagements with other instrumentalists such as Reinhold Friedrich ( trumpet ), Alfredo Bernardini ( oboe ) or Christoph Huntgeburth ( flute ), as well as the development of cantata programs with vocal soloists such as Ruth Ziesak , Ann Monoyios , Barbara Schlick , Johannette Zomer , Michael Schopper or Klaus Mertens .

The ensemble has made guest appearances at home and abroad and has published numerous radio, television and CD productions. The last concerts took place in 2010.
