Hans-Christoph Rademann (born January 5, 1965 in Dresden ) is a German conductor and university professor. Since 2013 he has been heading the Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart .

Life

Rademann grew up in Schwarzenberg / Erzgeb. on. He gained his first musical experiences and impressions in the choir run by his father Rolf Rademann . As a teenager he received violin and piano lessons and was a member of the Dresden Kreuzchor from 1975 to 1983 . After finishing school he studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Dresden University of Music until 1990 . In courses u. a. he gained further experience with Helmuth Rilling and Philippe Herreweghe .

In 1985 Rademann founded the Dresden Chamber Choir , which he has directed ever since. With him and the Dresden Baroque Orchestra , Rademann has been realizing the first complete Heinrich Schütz recording since 2009 in cooperation with MDR and Carus-Verlag Stuttgart , which was completed in 2019. From 1991 to 1999 Rademann was artistic director of the Singakademie Dresden . In 1994 he initiated the Festival of Early Music in the Ore Mountains, which took place every year in the first week of July until 2008 at various locations in the Ore Mountains. In 1997 he made his debut as an opera conductor at the State Theaters of Saxony with Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio . In 2016, the Erzgebirge Music Festival , which he helped to initiate in 2010, took place for the fourth time , and Rademann is also director.

From 1999 to 2004 Rademann was the choir director of the NDR choir . In 2000 he was appointed professor of choral conducting at the Dresden University of Music , where he has repeatedly directed performances of the opera class (including Titus ) and oratorio concerts. As a source of ideas and co-initiator of the Choir Conductors Forum of the German Music Council , he and Jörg-Peter Weigle have been focusing increasingly on promoting young choir conductors since 2008.

At the beginning of the 2007/2008 season, he took over as chief conductor of the RIAS Chamber Choir until mid-2015 . Rademann worked with the conductors Roger Norrington , Christoph Eschenbach and Semjon Bytschkow . As a guest he also conducted the vocal ensembles and orchestras Collegium Vocale Gent , the “National Chamber Choir of Ireland”, the radio choirs of the ARD institutions, Concerto Cologne and the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin . On June 1, 2013 Rademann took over the management of the International Bach Academy Stuttgart . As the leader of various ensembles, he went on concert tours to European music centers as well as to the USA, Israel, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Argentina, Uruguay and Japan.

He set standards with the RIAS Chamber Choir through his interpretations of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Händel , Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Ernst Krenek, as well as rediscovering works from the Bach family. Another focus of his work is the development of previously unknown works of Dresden's musical history. In addition to early music, he also devotes himself to new music , which is reflected in numerous first performances and in his interest in the further development of vocal composition.
