Eclipse was image processing software that was developed for SGI computers in the late 1980s . In 1990 the software was sold to the Alias company and further developed there. Six years later it finally went to Form & Vision GmbH , which ported it to Windows and, after some time, discontinued the SGI version. In 1999 TFG Venture Capital took over 30% of the company before Form & Vision had to file for bankruptcy two years later.

The specialty of the software was the possibility to edit very large pictures for the conditions at the time.
