The Eclipse Aerospace Incorporated ( EAI ) is an American aircraft manufacturer based in Albuquerque .

history

In 2008, the aircraft manufacturer applied for Eclipse Aviation bankruptcy protection to Chapter 11 . The former sales partner ETIRC wanted to take over Eclipse Aviation through the specially founded company EclipseJet and continue the production and maintenance of the Eclipse 500 . This project also ended in bankruptcy at the end of 2009. In the ensuing bankruptcy proceedings, Mason Holland and Mike Press from Charleston, South Carolina, took over the shares for USD 40 million . The contract was awarded on August 20, 2009. The then founded Eclipse Aerospace took over the production facilities and sales. In 2011 United Technologies Corporation announced that it had acquired shares in the company and that it wanted to resume production.

Products

Eclipse 550

Eclipse Aerospace delivered the twin-engine Eclipse 550 from 2013 . The 550 is based on the Eclipse 500 with a modified cockpit and avionics. Production of the serial number 1001 began on June 1, 2012 in Albuquerque. The purchase price was set at around USD 2.7 million. The first models are still being manufactured in Albuquerque, the following ones at PZL Świdnik in Poland.

Maintenance operation

Eclipse Aerospace has taken over the maintenance and spare parts supply for the 270 Eclipse 500s still in operation.
