River course
The Eclipse River flows through the Torngat Mountains National Park . Its origin is a nameless lake at an altitude of 580 m . Initially it flows in a northerly direction. At river kilometer 39 a larger tributary flows into the Eclipse River on the right side, at river kilometer 32 on the left side. At river kilometers 31 and 29.5 there are two waterfalls with heights of 2.8 and 5.4 m respectively. The river flows through the Torngat Mountains in the lower reaches in an easterly direction. Between the river kilometers 8 and 2 it flows through the lake Eclipse Lake , which represents a river broadening. It then flows 2 kilometers to its confluence with the Eclipse Channel , a bay that separates the south of North Aulatsivik Island from the mainland. At river km 1.3 the river overcomes a 5.4 m high waterfall, which is considered insurmountable for migratory fish . The Eclipse River drains an area of 1098 km².
