team

The team was founded in November 2005 by a group of tech-savvy students. During the first year the team consisted of 11 members. 7 of them came from Belgium , the other 4 came from the Netherlands . The team had set itself the goal of successfully participating in the Shell Eco-Marathon.

After various departures and newcomers, the team number increased to a total of 16 members, each from different grades.

Eco-Runner 1

In 2006 the team built the Eco-Runner 1 , a vehicle that was created in a short time and with few resources. Nevertheless, the team managed to use only 1 liter of fuel with this vehicle over a distance of over 500 km despite a defective injection pump . Due to this success, the team decided to develop a new vehicle that should use even less fuel.

Eco-Runner H 2

The newly developed Eco-Runner H 2 is characterized by its very compact and aerodynamic shape. The team also devised a two-way drive system. The first system is based on a fuel cell that drives an electric motor . The second system is a 6- stroke internal combustion engine , which works similarly to a 4-stroke engine, except that after the 4th stroke, water is injected into the combustion chamber and expands suddenly. The disadvantage of this drive is that the combination of high pressure and temperature as well as water strongly increases the corrosion of the engine.
