Econometric Theory is an economics journal published by Cambridge University Press with an emphasis on econometrics . Econometric Theory is part of the Cambridge Journals series , appears every two months and is one of the most renowned economic publications.

history

Econometric Theory was founded in 1985 by Peter CB Phillips . The aim was to create a journal for theoretical articles on econometrics . The magazine originally appeared with only three issues a year.

In 1987 the Journal launched the Tjalling C. Koopmans Prize in honor of Nobel Prize winner Tjalling C. Koopmans . The prize is awarded every three years for the best article published in Econometric Theory for this period. It is endowed with US $ 1000.

Another award, the Econometric Theory Award , has been awarded since 1997.

In a study by Kalaitzidakis et al. (2003) ranked Econometric Theory 7th out of 159 evaluated publications, but fell in an updated study by Kalaitzidakis et al. (2011) ranked 43rd out of 209 publications compared. In the economics publication ranking of the Tinbergen Institute at the University of Amsterdam , Econometric Theory is listed in category A (“very good general economic journals and top journals in the respective subject”). Another study by the French economists Pierre-Phillippe Combes and Laurent Linnemer lists the journal in the third-best category A, ranking it 38th out of 600 economic journals.
