The Edelmann GmbH is a German packaging manufacturers family owned with headquarters in Heidenheim , Baden-Wurttemberg . At thirteen locations around the world, the family company mainly develops and produces folding boxes and package inserts . In 2017, 2,800 employees generated sales of 306 million euros, of which more than half (65 percent) were abroad. The company produced five billion packages and package inserts worldwide.
history
In 1913, the Heidenheim-based printing company Weller with nine employees was taken over by Carl Edelmann senior. accepted. In 1927 Carl Edelmann jun. with the manufacture of folding boxes.
In the second half of the 1950s, the company, which now has around 500 employees, relocated to a new offset printing facility on Paradiesstrasse. In 1960, a warehouse was built in Steinheimer Strasse, which has since been expanded several times. The gluing machines have also been housed there since 1968, and the stamping shop since 1971. A new offset printing plant was then built on the company premises. After its completion, the entire production was located in Steinheimer Strasse.
In 2008 the administration moved to the newly built Edelmann Service Center (ESC) in Steinheimer Straße. The architectural design of the ESC stands for folding boxes placed side by side.
Locations
The group of companies was created through company takeovers and new foundations, starting in 1978 with the Edelmann subsidiary in Weilheim an der Teck . In 1997, G. Braun Pharmadruck followed in Bitterfeld . In 2003, Edelmann France - La Spic in Pontoise , France , opened the first international location, and in the same year Wesche Pharmaverpackung in Norderstedt strengthened the group. Edelmann Poland has been supplying the Eastern European market since 2005.
In 2007, Edelmann Beijing Pharmaceutical Packaging & Printing Ltd. China opened up the Asian market. Also in 2007, a new subsidiary in Germany followed with Arthur Theis in Wuppertal , which expanded the Health Care division. The Edelmann Mexico GDG location has been strengthening the Edelmann Group in Central America since 2009.
In the acquired location Zalai Nyomda Zrt. in the Hungarian Zalaegerszeg , Edelmann has been producing packaging for the health care and beauty care sector since 2010. Edelmann Leaflet Solutions produces package inserts and emerged from the Wepack company in Leverkusen (since 2009) and the Lindau printing company (since 2010). In 2013 Janus Packaging became the Indian location of the Edelmann Group in Himachal Pradesh .

The Edelmann company is essentially divided into the areas of Health Care , Beauty Care and Consumer Brands . In the health care sector , Edelmann develops and produces folding boxes, primarily as packaging for pharmaceuticals and food supplements. The Beauty Care division includes packaging for perfumes, decorative cosmetics, hair colorants and care products. In the Consumer Brands division , Edelmann offers packaging for confectionery, cigarettes, wines and spirits as well as for technical products and specialty chemicals. In addition to folding boxes, the Edelmann product portfolio also includes package inserts.
