Edema was an Italian death metal band from Piacenza , which was founded in 2004 under the name Bleeding Tide and split up in 2010.

history

The band was founded in December 2004 under the name Bleeding Tide after guitarist Marcello "Mavce" Lega and drummer Riccardo "Mendosa" Lovotti met at the Tendenze Festival in Piacenza. The guitarist Marco Benedetti and the bassist Michele "Miki" Cavalli joined as further members. Together they began with the first rehearsals, before Riccardo's brother Fillipo aka Vincent Daida took over the vocals a few months later. However, he left the group a little later, so that Marco "Brax" Bracciale took this position. This was followed by appearances in Piacenza, before the 17-minute demo I.SET was recorded in July 2005 in the Mofo Studio , which contains five songs. In September the group was selected as the opening act for the Tendenze Festival, which was canceled due to bad weather. A few days later Cavalli left the band.

In the following appearances, various musicians took over the bassist post, whereby the band had meanwhile renamed itself Edema. In 2006 the 16-minute and three-song demo Criosota was recorded in Elfo Studio . In the summer of 2007 the band took part in the Inpicci Festival before they opened for Slowmotion Apocalypse in the winter . In the summer of 2008 Edema could be seen at the Tendenze Festival. After that she started working on her debut album. The sound carrier was released in 2009 by Punishment 18 Records under the name Default . In 2010 the band split up.

style

According to Lior "Steinmetal" Stein from metalcrypt.com , the band plays modern and over-produced Death Metal on the album, which uses the American style of playing and also uses influences from Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk . In the songs, the group relies on slightly technical riffs as well as the occasional use of clear vocals and solos . Uneven beats and heavy guitars are also characteristic without appearing progressive .
