Edgar Atzler

Edgar Atzler (born December 22, 1887 in Potschappel , † September 28, 1938 in Dortmund ) was a German physiologist . He is considered to be the real founder of the branch that deals with the physiology and hygiene of work.

Life

Since 1921 Atzler was a Scientific Member of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Occupational Physiology. From 1921 to 1926 he headed the sports physiology laboratory of the German University for Physical Exercise , before becoming director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Work Physiology in Berlin in 1926 . Under his direction, the institute was relocated to Dortmund in 1929 (today the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Physiology ). From 1922 to 1937 he taught as an associate professor at the University of Berlin , where since 1934 there has been a chair or the Institute for Occupational Medicine at the Charité.

In 1927 Edgar Atzler published a manual on work physiology with the title Body and Work . In addition, he was editor of the journal occupational physiology .
