Edicson Ruiz (born May 11, 1985 in Caracas , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan double bass player .

life and career

Edicson Ruiz first learned his instrument in his home country with Felix Petit. His training was supported by a membership in the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic with Klaus Stoll .

He gained orchestral experience from 1996 as solo bassist in the Sinfónica Juvenil de Caracas , three years later he became a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar and made his debut as a soloist with this orchestra at the age of 16. At the age of 17 Ruiz became a member of the Berliner Philharmoniker , making him the second youngest member in the orchestra's history. He is still the first Latin American musician with the Berliner Philharmoniker.
