Edmund Heckler

Edmund Heckler (born February 2, 1906 in Tuttlingen ; † July 2, 1960 ) was a German engineer , entrepreneur, arms manufacturer and co-founder of the Heckler & Koch company .

Life

After training at the Mauser company in Oberndorf am Neckar , he attended the Württemberg State Higher Mechanical Engineering School in Esslingen am Neckar from 1925 . From 1936 he was employed by Hugo Schneider AG (HASAG), a metalworking and armaments company with around 50,000 employees. Heckler, who initially worked as a chief engineer, soon became one of the company's authorized signatories and was given the task of building branch plants in Leipzig, Berlin, Taucha and Altenburg. He then directed the last three plants mentioned. On December 28, 1949, together with Theodor Koch and Alex Seidel, he founded Heckler & Koch GmbH , which later became one of the most important German arms manufacturers of the post-war period.
