Edmund Stainl
Edmund Stainl ( July 26, 1846 in Vienna - after 1901) was an Austrian theater actor, director, comedian and singer.
Life
Stainl, son of a kk Austrian military lawyer, took lessons from the comparison director of the Burgtheater and found engagement in Posen, came to Pest in 1868, where he made his debut as "Hieronymus" in Mönch und Soldat and "Jupiter" in Orpheus , in 1870 he went to Graz, 1876 to Regensburg, 1877 to Cologne, 1878 to Basel, 1879 to 1892 he was in Strasbourg at the Theater an der Wien , also worked in Magdeburg, eight years at the Stuttgart-Berg Operetta Theater, in 1900 he took over the management of the city theater in Bern, which he however gave up again after a year.
Stainl was the first comedian to sing in operettas and farce, and in his portrayals he showed the cunning actor at first glance.
"Sigmund" in Methuselah , "Prison Director Frank", "Izzet Pascha", "Lambertuccio" in Boccaccio , "Thimofe" in the Little Duke , "Colonel Ollendorf" etc. were extremely effective achievements. His vis comica, his beautiful singing performance and his good mood were qualities that he knew how to use.
