Eduard Brandt ( Russian Эдуард Карлович Брандт , Eduard Karlowitsch Brandt , also Eduard von Brandt ; born February 15, 1839 in Saint Petersburg , † November 17, 1891 ibid) was a German-Russian physician (comparative anatomy) and zoologist ( entomology ).

Brandt attended the Sankt-Petri-Schule in Saint Petersburg and studied at the Petersburg Medical-Surgical Academy with a diploma in 1862 and a doctorate in 1865. He also studied zoology (especially entomology) and botany, and in 1876 earned a master's degree in zoology. In 1863 he became an assistant at the chair for zoology and comparative anatomy of the medical-surgical academy, in 1865 a private lecturer and in 1866 a prosector. In 1866 he was on a study trip abroad in Paris (with Émile Blanchard , Henri Milne-Edwards ) and London (with Richard Owen ).

In 1873 he became an associate professor and in 1878 a full professor of zoology and comparative anatomy at the Medical and Surgical Academy. He also gave zoology courses at various other universities in Saint Petersburg.

In 1881 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

He received a prize from the French Academy of Sciences for his research on the nervous system of insects. From 1880 to 1889 he was President of the Russian Entomological Society .
