Eduard Krause (prehistoric)

Eduard Krause (born June 13, 1847 in Berlin , † October 30, 1917 in Feldberg ) was a German prehistorian and author.

Life

After attending school in Berlin, Krause initially took up an apprenticeship as a bricklayer . He then passed the school leaving examination and studied chemistry in Berlin. In 1879 Krause became an unskilled laborer and, until his death, a curator at the Royal Museums for Ethnology in Berlin, Department of Prehistory. He became known for his documentation of the still existing large stone graves, which he carried out in the Altmark in the Prussian province of Saxony in the years 1888–1892 . In addition, he became through his standard work Prehistoric fishing equipment and newer comparative pieces. A comparative study as a contribution to the history of the fishing industry. Known with 648 illustrations on 16 plates and in the text .

Eduard Krause was married to Emmy, b. Jacobsen, a daughter of Emil Jacobsen .

He died at the end of October 1917 from the effects of pneumonia during his vacation, which was supposed to serve as recreation, in Feldberg in Mecklenburg .
