Louis Wintergerst (born October 13, 1913 in Esslingen am Neckar , † March 21, 1977 in Stuttgart ) was a German civil engineer.

biography

After studying at the TH Stuttgart, he worked in the bridge construction office of the Reichsautobahn in Stuttgart and Cologne from 1936. From 1938 he was part of Fritz Leonhardt's group building the Cologne-Rodenkirchen Rhine bridge , a large suspension bridge. He took over construction management from Fritz Leonhardt in 1939, when Fritz Todt engaged him in large-scale urban planning in Munich. From 1946 to 1948 he continued his work for Fritz Leonhardt and his engineering office building the new Deutz bridge in Cologne.

In 1949 he founded his own engineering office in Esslingen and became a test engineer. He was involved in six other Rhine bridges ( Theodor-Heuss-Brücke (Düsseldorf) , Rheinkniebrücke , Oberkasseler Brücke , Josef-Kardinal-Frings-Brücke (Düsseldorf) , Rheinbrücke Speyer (A 61) , Rheinbrücke Maxau ).

He held patents for bridge bearings.
