Wolfhardt Andrä

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolfhardt Andrä (born July 23, 1914 in Gera ; † May 24, 1996 in Stuttgart ) was a German civil engineer. With Fritz Leonhardt , he founded the engineering office Leonhardt und Andrä (later Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner , LAP) in Stuttgart in 1953, which became one of the best-known engineering offices in Germany with numerous innovative bridge projects such as cable-stayed bridges , high-rise buildings and television towers .

Life

Andrä studied civil engineering at the TH Stuttgart and the TH Munich from 1934, graduating in 1939. Afterwards he was involved in the construction of the Rhine bridge Cologne-Rodenkirchen under Fritz Leonhardt. In 1941 he moved to Munich. Soon after the end of the war, he joined the Leonhardt engineering office. Together with Leonhardt, Andrä published a book in 1949/1950 on the theory of the support grid, which Hellmut Homberg described as a plagiarism of his theory, which had been published shortly before, and which took legal action against Leonhardt and Andrä - ultimately without success. With Leonhardt he held patents on anchoring structures for prestressed concrete . Among other things, he was involved with LAP in the Alsterschwimmhalle and the Finland House in Hamburg. In 1963, he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. PhD.

His son Hans-Peter Andrä (* 1948) later succeeded his father as managing partner of Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner (LAP).
