Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner (LAP) is a German engineering office in civil engineering based in Stuttgart .
history
The office was founded in Munich in 1939 by Fritz Leonhardt , whose collaboration with Wolfhardt Andrä began in the same year (he became a partner in 1953). In 1946 the headquarters were moved to Stuttgart. Under Fritz Leonhardt, they made a name for themselves early on in structural engineering, especially in bridges and buildings, especially those made of reinforced concrete (but also steel construction). They became known as early as 1955 for the Stuttgart TV tower , which was followed by many others based on this model.
From 1970 they were called Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner, Beratende Ingenieure VBI, GmbH. In the same year Jörg Schlaich became a partner until he founded his own engineering office in 1980 (with Rudolf Bergermann , also at LAP before that). For a long time, the head of the engineering office was Hans-Peter Andrä, the son of Wolfhart Andrä.
In 2013 the name was changed to Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner, Consulting Engineers VBI AG.
The CEO of the engineering office is currently (2018) Wolfgang Eilzer. The engineers included Willi Baur , Kuno Boll , Wilhelm Zellner , Holger Svensson and Reiner Saul (like Svensson, particularly large cable-stayed bridges).
In addition to branches in various German cities, they also have branches in Zurich and Taipei.
