Wilhelm Zellner

Wilhelm Zellner (* 1932 in Frankenmarkt ) is an Austrian civil engineer .

Zellner attended the State Building School in Salzburg , worked for two years in an engineering office in Bern and then studied civil engineering at the Vienna University of Technology from 1953 to 1960 . He then worked for two years in the construction supervision for the new construction of the Brenntenmaiss motorway bridge near Vienna.

Zellner joined the engineering office Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner (LAP) in 1962 and became a close employee of Wolfhardt Andrä . In 1970 he became a partner at LAP and in 1997 he retired.

With Andrä he worked on the approaches and exits of the Kniebrücke Düsseldorf and the Kurt-Schumacher-Brücke (Mannheim) on the right bank of the Rhine (1972). Because of their weight, the cables of this bridge were first manufactured on site as parallel wire bundles, while the girder was manufactured in the front end. He also designed the Moselle valley bridge (A 61) Dieblich-Winningen with Andrä . Other of his projects are the Europaturm in Frankfurt am Main, the Cable Bridge (Pasco-Kennewick Bridge, the first large concrete cable-stayed bridge in the USA, with Fritz Leonhardt and Holger Svensson ) and the East End Bridge (Ohio).
