The East End Bridge (also Frank Gatski Memorial Bridge or 31st Street Bridge called) is a 275-meter-long cable-stayed bridge , between Huntington , West Virginia , and Proctorville , Ohio River Ohio in the United States crossed. The pylon of the bridge is not in the middle, but asymmetrical to the total length of the bridge. The total length of the side openings are 91.44 and 185.32 meters, respectively.
A bridge crossing at this point was already discussed in the early 1970s. Work to build the bridge on behalf of the West Virginia Department of Highways began in 1983 and was completed in August 1985. The design comes from Arvid Grant and Associates (design engineer David Goodyear) in collaboration with Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner (design engineer Holger Svensson ) and cost around 38 million US dollars. The construction company was Melbourne Brothers. The bridge was originally named after Frank Gatski, a football player.
