Edward Stutman

Edward Stutman (* 1945 , † September 17, 2005 in Washington, DC ) was an American lawyer and prosecutor of Nazi crimes against humanity .

Life

The lawyer worked for sixteen years as a chief investigator for the US Department of Justice's Office of Special Investigations (OSI). The main focus of his work there was the tracking of Nacifiers who had entered the USA undetected or even lived in the USA. In the course of his professional life, Edward Stutman succeeded in revoking US citizenship from former Nacifiers in thirteen cases. Stutman was also considered the leading expert on the Trawniki forced labor camp near Lublin in Poland . The 1999 trial against John Demjanjuk is considered his most spectacular case .

Edward Stutman, who was valued for his great humor (he was twice elected Funniest Lawyer in Washington ), died at the age of 60 of complications from a lymph node disease .
