Egbert Collin Yap

The Singaporean Egbert Collin Yap is a diplomat of the Sovereign Order of Malta .

Career

Yap attended St. Michael's School, St. Joseph's Institution, Catholic Junior College in Singapore and the University of Sheffield in the UK , where he received a bachelor's degree in law. He has been a member of the Order of Malta since May 1, 2013.

In 2016, Yap was appointed to succeed Piedade Reymão as advisor at the embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta in East Timor and as deputy ambassador. This makes him the second Singaporean ever to serve in the diplomatic service of the order. He had previously lived in East Timor for seven years, where he founded and ran the country's first insurance company. In 2018 he replaced David Scarf as ambassador for the Sovereign Order of Malta in East Timor . The accreditation was handed over to Yap on June 21, 2018.
