The Egelsee is a small, approximately 30 × 15 meter large forest pond in a hollow in the municipality of Rankweil in the Austrian state of Vorarlberg . It is located near the national road L 73 in the direction of Hochgastra-Valduna.

The Egelsee was included in the biotope directory of the Vorarlberg state government under number 41408 as part of the assessment of special protection worthiness. The Egelsee is of great importance as spawning water for the local amphibian world, especially since it is the only water of its kind in the wider area. In addition to the corresponding small animal world ( dragonflies , water beetles, etc.), there are also common toads , common frogs and mountain newts .
