Ehecatl
In Aztec mythology and the mythologies of other pre-Columbian cultures in Central America, Ehecatl was a special manifestation of the creator god Quetzalcoatl , who is also called the god of learning in other places and who was able to breathe life into things.

Ehecatl was assigned to the west, i.e. the setting sun. He was the ruler of the Age of the Second Sun (Four Wind) , which went down in a hurricane. It was also he who, through his breath, set the sun, which initially stood motionless in the sky, in motion and cleared the paths of the rain god Tlaloc . When Ehecatl fell in love with the girl Mayahuel , he gave people the ability to love so Mayahuel could reciprocate his love.

In his appearance as a Ehecatl, Quetzalcoatl was depicted with a beard and beak mask. Ehecatl also played a role in the Aztec creation myths.
Place of worship Ehecatl
Temples dedicated to Ehecatl were cylindrical and stood on round, stepped bases. Thus they did not offer the wind any target. Almost every major city in the central Mexican highlands had a sanctuary dedicated to the god.
