Ehregutaplatz 1 (Bregenz)
The house Ehregutaplatz 1 (also: Unteres Tor or Stadttor ) is a former city gate and residential building in the upper town of Bregenz . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).
history
The core of the “lower gate” of the city wall was built in the 14th or 15th century. After the city fire in Bregenz in 1571, the building was rebuilt and expanded. The building was rebuilt again in the 17th century.
architecture
The structure has an elongated, four-storey structure. Most of the windows are linked, the corner blocks are hunched. The facade painting dates from the 17th century. The pillars inside are from the 16th century. On the third floor there are living rooms with a vaulted wooden ceiling.
