Medal of Honor of the State Capital Dresden
The medal of honor of the state capital Dresden is the highest award of the Saxon state capital Dresden after the honorary citizenship .
In 1999 the Dresden City Council decided to endow the City of Dresden with the Medal of Honor. It will be awarded on March 31st, the day Dresden was first mentioned in a document in 1206. It was stipulated that no more than 25 living people may be carriers of the Medal of Honor.
According to the statutes, it serves to honor people who “have made a special contribution to the social, political, cultural, religious, social or economic life in the city of Dresden or who have increased the reputation of the city of Dresden through their work”.
