Appearance of the first form

The plaque made of cast zinc is 152 mm high, 110 mm wide and shows in its upper third the sovereign badge of the Luftwaffe in raised embossing and the four-line inscription below: FOR SPECIAL SERVICES / THE COMMANDING GENERAL / AND COMMANDER IN / LUFTGAU NORWAY . Below the inscription is the round symbol of a naked man riding on the back of a reindeer . He holds on to the antlers with his left hand and a small knife in his right. The maximum number of awards of the first form so far determined is 6990.
