In addition to the Verification Act, the Calibration Ordinance regulates the calibration of measuring devices . It was replaced with effect from January 1, 2015 by the Measurement and Calibration Ordinance ( Federal Law Gazette 2014 I p. 2010 ).

The last valid calibration ordinance was issued on August 12, 1988 by the Federal Minister of Economics . With the amending ordinance of February 8, 2007 ( Federal Law Gazette I p. 70 ) it was adapted to the requirements of the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and became invalid with the measuring and calibration ordinance.

In the calibration ordinance, the details of the special regulations and permissible error tolerances for the individual types of measuring device were specified. This happened in particular in the 23 annexes to the regulation. Among other things, the calibration error limits, calibration validities and recalibration were regulated. The calibration regulations often referred to the requirements and technical standards established by the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt .
