The Pfleiderer Spezialpapiere Teisnach paper mill is a paper mill in Teisnach in the Bavarian Forest .

history

In 1881 the Prussian industrial pioneer Gustav Werner laid the foundation stone for the construction of a wood grinding shop in Teisnach . The abundance of wood in the region and the usability of the black rain as a drift river and energy source were decisive for the selection of the factory location.

Teisnach itself could only be reached via unpaved roads at the time. The next train station was 11 km from the construction site. The transport of plant components, boilers and generators was almost adventurous with horse-drawn vehicles.

The first two paper machines were installed in Teisnach between 1883 and 1885 . After a very difficult early years, Teisnach brown wood paper established itself successfully on the German market and became a common quality term.

The young company developed rapidly and in 1906 already employed 300 people at the start of the fourth paper machine. The development of Teisnach is closely linked to the history of the paper mill.

In 1890 the Gotteszell – Blaibach railway was opened. In the course of this, a feeder track to the paper mill was built from the new Teisnach train station in order to be able to transport goods better.

In 1923, the timber merchant Adolf Pfleiderer (1877–1957) from Heilbronn took over the majority of shares in the Teisnach paper factory, which is now a public limited company . Under his direction, a pulp mill was built and the production of parchment replacement paper and colored tissue paper was started. In 1936 the stock corporation was transformed into the partnership Pfleiderer & Co.

In the further course of the business, Pfleiderer experienced many ups and downs in Teisnach. In order to counter the major problem of water pollution, after almost two years of construction and an investment of 8.5 million DM, a waste liquor incineration in the fluidized bed furnace was put into operation in 1978, whereby 95% of the waste water could be destroyed. In 1979 the factory employed 350 workers and employees. Since 1996, Hans and Rainer Koder from Regensburg have held 100% of the limited partner's shares in the traditional company.

Pfleiderer Teisnach today

Chimneys

The two tall chimneys are a landmark that can be recognized from afar. A third, much smaller chimney was shut down some time ago.
