The house was built in 1908–1914. It was entered in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach under No. E 014 on September 13, 1988 .

House no. 185 and the following buildings no. 187–189, 191, 193 and 195 form a closed group of historic residential buildings that continues into the “Eickener Höhe”.
The three-storey apartment building with an extended mansard roof and an attached mansard gable that occupies the entire width of the house dates from 1908–1914. The facade is overall smooth plastered and sparingly decorated.
