Federal Song Festival 1850

The 4th Federal Singers' Festival took place on July 28th and 29th, 1850 in Lucerne . A total of 1200 singers took part in 55 clubs. The festival was organized by Harmonie Luzern (today the Lucerne Choir).

The Lucerne government councilor Eduard Schnyder acted as party president . The jury was chaired by the well-known composer Franz Xaver Schnyder von Wartensee , the festival director of the overall performance was the Bohemian conductor Ernst Maschek .

The prizes have not yet been awarded to individual choirs, but to associations:

  • 2nd prize: Stadtsängerverein Winterthur
  • 3rd prize: not awarded
