The Gasthaus Zur Fels' n is a listed building in the Lower Bavarian city ​​of Passau , district of Ilzstadt . It was used as an inn and hostel for centuries until 1999.

history

The inn was first mentioned in writing in 1647, the present-day listed building dates back to the second half of the 18th century. In addition to private owners, the Hacklberg brewery owned the property from 1897 to 1955. After the last private owner died in 2013 without an inheritance, the property became the property of the Free State of Bavaria .

Current owner

After the two buildings (host building and additional baroque pavilion ) fell noticeably - also damaged by the millennium flood in 2013 - founded under the leadership of Egon Johannes Greipl the "rock friends Passau e. V. ”with the aim of repairing the buildings“ in accordance with historical monuments, preserving them for the general public and using them for the common good. ”In April 2016, the association bought the property from the Free State for 19,000 euros. In autumn 2016, during exploratory work on the foundation, a money box dated to an age of 500 years was found.

Redevelopment

The renovation work, estimated to take two years, began in the summer of 2018 at a cost of around one million euros, of which around 400,000 euros are to be raised as funding by the Free State of Bavaria.
