Federal Song Festival 1875

The 16th Federal Singers' Festival took place from July 10th to 12th, 1875 in Basel . A total of 3200 singers took part in 75 clubs. The festival was organized by the Basler Liedertafel, supported by the Basler Gesangverein.

The Basel Council of States Alphons Koechlin acted as the festival president . The president of the jury was the general music director Gustav Arnold from Lucerne , the festival director of the overall performance was the Wettinger conductor Karl Attenhofer , who replaced Ernst Reiter , who was seriously ill and died two days later .
