Federal Song Festival 1899

The 20th Federal Singers' Festival took place from July 8th to 10th, 1899 in Bern . A total of 6500 singers took part in 98 clubs.

The festival was organized by the town of Bern's male choirs “Liedertafel”, “Frohsinn” and “Liederkranz”. The singing performances were carried out in a festival hall on the Kirchenfeld .

National Councilor Johann Hirter was the party president . The presidents of the jury were the Lucerne General Music Director Gustav Arnold , the Zurich Music Director Gottfried Lochbrunner and Christoph Schnyder from Sursee. The complete performance, now divided into two parts, was conducted by the Bern music director Karl Munzinger .
