Eikei Suzuki ( Japanese 鈴木 英 敬 , Suzuki Eikei , actual reading Suzuki Hidetaka ; born August 15, 1974 in Hyōgo Prefecture ) is a Japanese politician and elected governor of Mie Prefecture .

Suzuki, a graduate of Tokyo University's Economics Faculty , became a civil servant in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce after graduating in 1998 . In 2008 he ended his civil service career and turned to politics: in February 2009 he took over the chairmanship of the LDP local group in the 2nd constituency of Mie for the Shūgiin , the lower house of the national parliament , but was clearly defeated by incumbent Masaharu in the elections in August of the same year Nakagawa .

In the gubernatorial election in Mie 2011 , Suzuki applied with the support of the national opposition parties LDP, Kōmeitō and Minna no Tō to succeed Akihiko Noro , who did not run after two terms. He beat the former mayor of Tsu , Naohisa Matsuda, who ran with the support of the national ruling Democratic Party , by around 10,000 votes and replaced Noro in April 2011. He was the youngest governor in the country when he took office.

In 2015 , Suzuki was sovereignly re-elected with 85% of the votes against the CPY-supported Shin'ichi Fujii as the only opposing candidate.
