In the gubernatorial election in Mie 2011 , Suzuki applied with the support of the national opposition parties LDP, Kōmeitō and Minna no Tō to succeed Akihiko Noro , who did not run after two terms. In 2015 , Suzuki was sovereignly re-elected with 85% of the votes against the CPY-supported Shin'ichi Fujii as the only opposing candidate.
